About Jane Henry Studios
Jane Henry Studios, established in 1989, is a full-service antique restoration business, located on the West Side of New York City’s Midtown Manhattan. Jane specializes in gilding restoration, conservation and the reproduction of antique gilding, Asian lacquer restoration, and Chinoiserie. She has broad experience in restoring painted finishes, verre eglomise and mirror silvering.
Her work with wood includes: staining and finishing, French polishing and wax finishes, veneer repair, specialty finishes and structural repairs on European and American antiques, as well as Twentieth Century Modern furniture.
She works side-by-side with designers to create decorative finishes on new furniture and other objects. Her extensive knowledge of the history of furniture informs her sensitivity to retaining the integrity of each piece she restores. She has worked with many top decorators, designers and antique dealers, as well as individual clients, in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and elsewhere.
Jane grew up in the West Village loft that is now her studio, and studied painting at Cooper Union and the High School of Music and Art. A sculptor, she is represented by the Schoolhouse Gallery in Provincetown, Mass., and the Sidetracks Gallery in New Hope, Penn.
